"Your Girl" is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. It was co-written and produced by Rick Nowels. The song is registered on PPL Repertoire.^[1]

Background

The song was recorded during November 2013, in the same sessions as "I Can Fly", "Yes to Heaven", "Shades of Cool", "Is This Happiness", "Fine China" and "Sad Girl", for Ultraviolence. However, the track was ultimately cut from the final tracklist when the album was reworked with Dan Auerbach.

Three snippets, including snippets of stems of the track, leaked on August 15, 2016. The full instrumental lacking a drum stem leaked on January 28, 2017, followed by another snippet on March 21, 2017. A full version of the track with vocals, but slightly edited, leaked on April 18, 2017. The unedited file leaked on May 22, 2020.

Composition and writing

"Your Girl" is a slow rock ballad with elements of blues, soul and jazz. The song is set in the key of D minor playing at approximately 120 beats per minute. Instrumentation for the track consists of a synthesized bass, strumming electric guitar, strings and a prominent use of an organ in the chorus. Lyrically, the track depicts Del Rey, tired from performing, asking an old flame to carry her to her bed while lamenting about how their relationship could have been.

Cross-references

There are many lyrical and thematic similarities to "The Blackest Day".

Reference to Versailles is also found in "Breaking My Heart".
The lyric "paint my toenails blue" alludes to her blue nail polish which is referenced in "1949", "The Blackest Day" and similarly to her "red nail polish" in "Off to the Races".
The title is referenced in "Pretty When You Cry".
