Lana Del Rey Wiki

"Yayo" is a song written by Lana Del Rey. The first known recording of the track was on No Kung Fu, and was later re-recorded in 2008 for her first EP, Kill Kill. The same version of the track found on Kill Kill was re-released on her first album, Lana Del Ray. The final release of the track appears as track number seven on her third EP, and second major-label release, Paradise.

Background

"Yayo" was first officially released on October 21, 2008, on Del Rey's first studio EP and commercial release, Kill Kill, when Del Rey still used the stage name Lizzy Grant. It was again released commercially on January 4, 2010, as part of Del Rey's first studio album, Lana Del Ray, under the name Lana Del Ray, both of these releases have since been taken down from all music services.

The final and most well-known version of "Yayo" was officially released on November 9, 2012, as part of Del Rey's third studio EP, Paradise. It is the only song from Del Rey's first studio album Lana Del Ray that has been officially re-recorded and re-released.

As with many of the other Lana Del Ray songs, Del Rey created a homemade video for the track. It was posted to Jimmy Gnecco's facebook wall[1]

Lyrics

Paradise version

I like the snake on your tattoo
I like the ivy and the ink blue
Yayo, yes, you
Yayo

You have to take me right now
From this dark trailer park life now
Yayo, how now
Yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifty baby doll dress for my "I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle, you call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you, daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you, tiger
Let me put on a show

I need you like a baby when I hold you
Like a druggie, like I told you
Yayo, yeah, you
Yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifties baby doll dress for my "I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle, you call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you, daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you, tiger
Let me put on a show

Hello, heaven, you are a tunnel lined
With yellow lights on a dark night
Yayo, yes, you
Yayo

Put me onto your black motorcycle
Fifties baby doll dress for my "I do"
It only takes two hours to Nevada
I wear your sparkle, you call me your mama

Let me put on a show for you, daddy
Let me put on a show
Let me put on a show for you, tiger
Let me put on a show
