"When I'm with You" is a song written by Steven Mertens, rehearsed live in 2007 by Mertens and Lana Del Rey in preparation for a joint show. It leaked on February 4, 2020.

Background[]

The original file's metadata suggests the song is part of Relax27's Album; another featured song with this metadata is "Wayamaya".

According to an insider, the leaked recording was part of a rehearsal done in preparation for a Cross-Pollination show at Pianos in New York City, which was to be held on May 29, 2007.[S 1] Mertens and Del Rey would perform the song together live at the show, though no recording of this is known to exist. According to the person who leaked the live rehearsal, Mertens reportedly wrote the lyrics himself in the late 1990s.[S 2]

Lyrics[]

[Steven Mertens & Lana Del Rey]:
I was fly like railroad ties when I'm with you
In an ocean deep and wide when I'm with you
Everything's a little brighter
Everything's a little warmer
When I'm with you

[Lana Del Rey & Steven Mertens]:
I was fly like railroad ties when I'm with you
Mmm, I'm with you
Everything's a little brighter, mm
Everything's a little warmer
When I'm with you
When I'm with you
When I'm with you

A little brighter
Everything's a little brighter
Everything's a little brighter
Everything's a little brighter
