"Strangelove" (or "Strange Love") is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. It was recorded in 2008 and co-written and produced by Robert Logan and Ivor Guest.

Background[]

The song was written and recorded with Del Rey and was sent to her upon completion, though the producers never heard back from her. According to Logan, the sessions were done in 2008 and he described them as enjoyable. The sound was part of his own experimentation which Del Rey was open to and quickly worked with. No other tracks were produced from the sessions.[1]

Two versions of the song exist. The second version of the song leaked on August 12, 2013, followed by an earlier version being discovered on April 26, 2015. It was originally posted to SoundCloud by Robert Logan on September 27, 2013.[2] In the comment section of the song, Logan revealed that the song's stems were lost in a server crash. He also said that the song was recorded "on the spot" and seemingly clarified the order of production of the two versions of the song: the first to leak was actually created "later" than the version Logan would post on his SoundCloud.[2] Only the first version of the song was produced by Logan and Guest.

Lyrics[]

Version 1[]

Hey, stranger, my strange love
Could you be mine? Am I what you're dreaming of?
Hey, stranger, my strange love
What makes you shine? What makes you fall in love?

It's strange, the way we met, a desert road and then
My car had stopped and you pulled up on your black motorcycle
You rode me to the bar, we danced all night under
The Christmas lights in the dark black night with the lightning and the thunder

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah

Hey, stranger, my strange love
Could you be mine? Am I what you're dreaming of?
Hey, stranger, my strange love
What makes you shine? What makes you fall in love?

You took me to the edge of town, that's where you slept
You liked it best when no one else could find you or could bother
You bought us mint juleps and kissed me on the lips
You held me tight in the TV light and you said you never loved her

Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah

You have a dark heart, like mine
Things that you've seen and done time
Let me love you, let me touch you
Let me show you you'll be fine

Hey, stranger, my strange love
Could you be mine? Am I what you're dreaming of?
Hey, stranger, my strange love
What makes you shine? What makes you fall in love?

You have a dark heart, like mine
