"Loved You Then and Now" (speculatively re-titled to "Rock Candy Sweet"[S 2][dead link] and referred to as "Loved You Then Loved You Now"[S 1]) is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey, produced by Jack Antonoff.[S 1] It is an outtake from Del Rey's sixth major-label studio album Chemtrails Over the Country Club[1] and seventh major-label studio album Blue Banisters.[S 2][dead link]

Background[]

The song originally appeared as "Loved You Then and Now" on a handwritten draft tracklist of Chemtrails Over the Country Club seen on display at Electric Lady Studios.[1] The song once served as the eighth track of the album.

On March 20, 2021, Del Rey said on social media that her eighth studio album, then named Rock Candy Sweet, would be released June 1 of that year. The song appeared on an early version of this album's track list,[S 2][dead link] presumably as the title track. However, it was eventually cut and the album became Blue Banisters.

According to an insider, the lyrics of the song are rumored to contain the phrase "rock candy sweet".[S 1] This corroborates what was said by another insider who claimed the song was eventually retitled to "Rock Candy Sweet".[S 2][dead link]
