This article is about the unreleased song produced by Peter Ibsen. For the song of the same name, recorded in 2015, see Paradise (2015 song). For the song from Born to Die, see Dark Paradise (song). For other uses, see Paradise (disambiguation).

"Paradise" is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey, co-written with Justin Parker and Peter Ibsen and produced by the latter. It was recorded on March 17, 2011, and leaked on September 25, 2012. The song is registered to APRA AMCOS.[1]

Background[]

It has long been rumored that Del Rey and Ibsen recorded "Serial Killer" and the second and third demos of "This Is What Makes Us Girls" in the same session as this song, though the title of an original file of "Paradise" showed that it predates "Serial Killer" by an entire month.[2] Both songs were considered for inclusion on Del Rey's debut major-label studio album, Born to Die, but were ultimately cut from consideration.

On March 29, 2022, Ibsen released the song - alongside "Serial Killer" - on all streaming platforms as a single under his stage name Neros. The cover art of the single included stanzas of early lyrics of the song, handwritten by Del Rey. The tracks were removed the following day.

An original file of the song titled "paradise mix1 17-3-2011" leaked on December 21, 2023. This version featured an uncut intro with roughly three extra seconds of static compared to the previously leaked version.

Live performances[]

On February 8, 2018, Del Rey performed the song live for the first and only time in Dallas, Texas during the LA to the Moon Tour.

Music video[]

An official music video for the song is registered on ISRC, but no further details are known about it and it remains unleaked.[3]

Lyrics[]

(Ooh) What?
(Ooh) That's dope
(Ooh) What?
(Ooh)

Love you like I never loved anyone
Keep me burnin' hot like the red, red sun
Want you like I never wanted anyone
You give it to me fast, like free and fun
Every time wit' you, it feels like I'm in summer
I don't know why
Maybe 'cause you're so cool and keep it on the real
Like sugar, sugar, fly

Boy, you're sweet like sugar cane
Make me feel alive again

I'm goin' down, down, take you down to paradise
(Rock you like a real bad baby)
La, love, lick you like vanilla ice
(Tie you up and make you crazy)
Shut up, gimme what you got
You can mend my heart, supersonic pop
We're goin' down, down, take you down to paradise

Want you like I've never wanted anyone
Got a face like God and a bod' like drawn
Kiss you like I never kissed anyone
'Cause you keep it really rough like, "oh, my God"
Every time wit' you, I can tell it's forever
I don't know how
And even if it's not, you know I couldn't stop
You make my heart go pow

Coming down like pouring rain
Make me feel alive again

I'm goin' down, down, take you down to paradise
(Rock you like a real bad baby)
La, love, lick you like vanilla ice
(Tie you up and make you crazy)
Sh-sh-sh-sh-shut up, gimme what you got
You can mend my heart, supersonic pop
We're goin' down, down, take you down to paradise
How do you like that, baby?

Down, down, take you down to paradise
(Down, down, take you down to paradise)
Down, down, take you down to paradise
(Ooh) Dope
(Ooh) That's sick
(Ooh) Dope
(Ooh) That's sick
(Ooh)
(Ooh)

Shut up, gimme what you got
You can mend my heart, supersonic pop

I'm goin' down, down, take you down to paradise
(Rock you like a real bad baby)
La, love, lick you like vanilla ice
(Tie you up and make you crazy)
Sh-sh-sh-sh-shut up, gimme what you got
You can mend my heart, supersonic pop
We're goin' down, down, take you down to paradise
