"Motel 6" (also known as "Slow Gin Fizz", "Sloe Gin Fizz", "Slow Gin Fizzzz", "Slo Gin Slo III", and "Vicarage") is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. The song has many versions, those of which have been produced by Del Rey herself, Jeff Peretz, James Dring and Jody Street of The Rural, Crispin Hunt,[S 1] and David Kahne. The "Vicarage" demo of the song is registered to the Harry Fox Agency.[1]
Background[]
An a cappella demo of the song - titled "Sloe Gin Fizz" - leaked on October 5, 2012, which was followed by a studio version produced by Jeff Peretz being uploaded to his own website in January 2013. The original file of Peretz's version is labeled as "Slo Gin Slo III". A home-recorded acoustic demo leaked on September 13, 2014, under the title "Slow Gin Fizzzz". A snippet of the version recorded with The Rural in 2010 leaked on August 15, 2016, under the title "Motel 6 (Vicarage)", with the full version leaking the following day. Several stem snippets from the "Vicarage" demo leaked on April 18, 2017. An edit using stems and outtakes from The Rural session surfaced on March 2, 2018.
A fifth demo, produced by Crispin Hunt and said to be similar to the "Vicarage" demo but with another set of drums, is rumored to exist.[S 1] A studio version produced by David Kahne titled "Slow Gin Fizz" has been confirmed by Kahne himself via email, however, it has yet to leak. His version is expected to be the final version, and is possibly an outtake from Lana Del Ray.[S 2]
