"Life Lesson" (also registered as "Life Lessons"[1]) is a song by Jon Batiste featuring Lana Del Rey. It was released on August 18, 2023 as the last track on Batiste's seventh studio album, World Music Radio.

In an interview with TalkShopLive, Batiste explained the song's history and recording process. He described the song as "coming together spontaneously" at the piano, and that the song was originally recorded for Del Rey's ninth studio album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, but was scrapped and saved for Batiste's album. Batiste also stated that he hoped to perform the song live one day with Del Rey, saying it would be "mind-blowing" and that "people would just go crazy". He would go on to reveal that many other ideas and songs were created from their sessions together.[2]

[Jon Batiste]:
Never second-guess yourself
'Cause we were fallin', darling, from the start
Always listen to your heart
'Cause we were fallin' from the start

[Lana Del Rey & Jon Batiste]:
You're happy until you're not
You're icy until you're hot

[Lana Del Rey]:
I read an article about a star who said that standing
In the shadow of her husband felt so dark
Reminded me of you and I because
That's very much the way our story was

[Lana Del Rey & Jon Batiste]:
Because my biggest blessing (Yeah)
My biggest blessing

[Lana Del Rey]:
He got so mad, that, in a flash
In just one second
I became his life lesson
I'm his life lesson now

[Jon Batiste]:
Goin' through this world alone
Here 'til I right my wrongs
Shadow until the light
From the start, it was all and all
Fears of a place and time
When the space was made
And the stakes were laid
Say it again, I pray

[Lana Del Rey]:
"What's your name?" I said when she came down
With auburn hair, her dress was long
She's not your type, it made me smile
And she's as sunny as the dawn

[Lana Del Rey & Jon Batiste]:
Get gone, get gone, get gone, get gone
She rocks a little red car like me, man, she belongs
She wears her hair like mine with the part in the middle and I think it's cute
But she could be the one to take my place (Yeah)

She was my biggest blessing
She was my biggest blessing

[Lana Del Rey]:
I hope it's cold where you reside
You wake up late at night
And I would reckon
That you'd be guessing
I, I'm your life lesson

[Jon Batiste]:
Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh

[Lana Del Rey & Jon Batiste]:
You were my biggest blessing
You were my biggest blessing

It's like a dream, you know what I mean?
Things are peachy keen
This very second
And I would reckon
That now you know it
