"Kinda Outta Luck" (also known as "Born Bad Baby", "Kinda Out of Luck" or "Kindness of Strangers") is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey recorded in 2010, during the early recording sessions for Born to Die. The song was co-written and produced by Joe Henson and Alexis Smith of The Flight.
Background
Del Rey labeled the song as a demo titled "Kinda Outa Luck" and uploaded it to her defunct SoundCloud profile on March 22, 2010, alongside other songs "On Our Way", Hundred Dollar Bill", "Velvet Crowbar", "Us Against the World" and "You Can Be the Boss".[1] Although it was never released commercially, the song received many positive reviews during her rise to fame with "Video Games" during the summer of 2011.
The song is registered on ASCAP and ISWC as "Kinda Out of Luck"[2] but was released on YouTube by Del Rey as "Kinda Outta Luck".
A demo of the song called "Born Bad Baby" leaked on January 22, 2015, featuring a home-recorded second verse and bridge. A slightly different, alternate version of the song leaked on August 15, 2016 in lossless form, made from unleaked stems of the track. The isolated stem of a group of girls shouting the bridge was leaked on the same day.
Use in media
On September 6, 2011, the song was used for the commercial of the TV Series Gossip Girl for the episode "Yes, Then Zero".

Background and description
Del Rey created 3 of her own homemade music videos for the song in 2011. Like most of her old music videos, it features clips of Del Rey herself singing along to the song and clips she gathered from miscellaneous films and videos. Del Rey uploaded the first music video to her Facebook on May 5, 2011,[3] and later uploaded another music video to her YouTube channel on May 24, 2011. She also uploaded another version to YouTube on May 27, 2011. Although all uploads have since been privatized, unofficial uploads still exist around the internet.
