Background[]
In a 2009 interview with Mike Mizrahi for Knocks From the Underground, Del Rey mentioned that she wrote "three smashing songs" - namely "Queen of the Gas Station", "Jump", and "Put Me in a Movie" - in a week.[1]
The original file of the song's demo leaked in lossless format on July 2, 2017.
Live performances[]
There are two known live performances of "Jump". Both performances took place at The National Underground in New York City, New York. The first was on December 2, 2008, and the second on January 14, 2009. Neither performance of the song is known to have been recorded.

Background and description[]
Del Rey created her own homemade music video for the song. Like most of her old music videos, it features clips of Del Rey herself and clips she gathered from miscellaneous films and videos. Del Rey's ex-boyfriend, Mike Mizrahi, can be seen in this video. Some of the clips were taken at the CMJ Music Marathon, when Del Rey performed there on October 22, 2009.

Lyrics[]
Album version[]
Palm trees in black and white
Last thing I saw before I died
Palm trees in black and white
Was the last thing I saw before I died
Bright light, right man
Right mixture of cocaine and heroin
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you, do you wanna?)
Hair thin and in the wind
Cadillac convertible with him
Hotshot at 2 A.M.
You got the grin of a very old man
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you, do you wanna?)
Palm trees in black and white
You are a junky on your window, smilin' wide
Palm trees in black and white
Lean forward and you close your eyes
Last fight, fuck them
Last words before you went under again
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you wanna) Jump, jump, jump?
(Do you, do you?) Do you wanna?
Just do what you love, just do what you can
Just do what you love, just do what you can
Just do what you love, do it better than
Just do what you love, do it better than
(Do you, do you?) Do you wanna?
(Do you wanna?)
