Josh Kemp is Lana Del Rey's ex-boyfriend. They were together between 2010 and 2011, though early online records and resurfaced photos suggest they may have known each other as early as 2005. In that year, Kemp was the bassist for a band called The Ordinary, whose album was featured on Del Rey's personal website, lizzigrant.com, indicating a possible early connection.[S 1]

In a now-deleted video discussing her upbringing and life before fame, Del Rey revealed that she had been dependent on her boyfriends (including Kemp) prior to earning money from her music at age 26.[1]
Kemp's fondness for World of Warcraft has been speculated to be the inspiration behind "Video Games". On Instagram, he shared a video of Del Rey performing the track live with the caption:[2]

In a 2012 interview with MTV Buzzworthy, Del Rey mentioned that every man in her life had been consumed by World of Warcraft, making it her least favorite video game.[3]
