Relationship with Lana Del Rey[]
In October 2011, Lana Del Rey signed a joint contract with Interscope, Polydor and Stranger, one and a half years after buying herself out of a contract with 5 Points. Del Rey uploaded music videos and songs to her YouTube channel before she was discovered by Stranger Records, who released her single "Video Games". The song was an unexpected hit, winning a Q Award and an Ivor Novello. The rise in popularity that the single gave Del Rey generated interest from major record labels, and on October 28, 2011, Billboard announced "The recent Interscope Records signee's debut album is due in early 2012."
