"Hundred Dollar Bill" (sometimes called "C-Note" or "$100" and referred to as "Nothin' More Gorgeous Than a Hundred Dollar Bill") is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. It was recorded in 2009 and leaked on December 20, 2011. The song is speculated to be an outtake from the Born to Die sessions.

Background

Del Rey uploaded the song to her defunct SoundCloud profile on March 22, 2010, alongside other songs "On Our Way", "Velvet Crowbar", "Us Against the World", "Kinda Outta Luck" and "You Can Be the Boss".^[1]

The first version of the song was produced by Jayson Michael. The "C-Note" demo version leaked on April 8, 2012 and was produced by David Kahne, who also produced Lana Del Ray. A 3rd version has been confirmed by it's producer, David Kahne. It's been described as "progressive and aggressive".

Del Rey performed the song live on June 8, 2009 at The Variety Box, and referred to it as "Nothin' More Gorgeous Than a Hundred Dollar Bill".

Along with "Heavy Hitter" and "Hawaiian Tropic", "Hundred Dollar Bill" belongs to an album called "2009 Pod Audio".

Live performances

Del Rey performed the song live twice known times during the early days of her career, and possibly more. The first known performance was on June 8, 2009, at The Slipper Room in New York, and the second known performance was on January 22, 2010, at the Highline Ballroom in New York. Video footage of the first performance exists online.^[2]

Background and description

Del Rey created her own homemade video for the song. Like most of her old music videos, it featured clips of Del Rey herself singing along to the song and clips she gathered from miscellaneous films and videos. It also features footage of Del Rey's interview with Brea Tremblay for Index magazine that was taken November, 2008.
