The Festival Tour (2016) is the unofficial title of the fourth concert tour by Lana Del Rey, it was in support of her third major-label album Honeymoon. It began in Warsaw, Poland on June 3, 2016, and ended in Mexico City, Mexico on November 20, 2016.
Background[]
Although Del Rey did not embark on an official headlining concert tour to promote her fourth studio album and third major-label album, Honeymoon, she performed at music festivals around the world starting in June 2016. In early December 2015, the first date announced was for the Park Live Festival in Moscow, Russia.[1] The rest of the dates were announced over the next several months. The tour included performances across various European and North American countries.
On March 23, 2016, Del Rey wrote on Instagram "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm coming to some of the most beautiful places in the world this summer for festivals. Absolutely can't wait to see everyone on our way through Switzerland, Greece, Ireland and many more stops until we eventually play back home in August in California. I'll be keeping you updated and posting the festival flyers as they come out. All my love, Lana Del Rey".[2][dead link]
The tour originally included shows in Latin America at Lollapalooza Colombia in Bogotá, Colombia, and at Live Out Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, although they were both cancelled due to the main headlining act not being able to appear at Lollapalooza Colombia,[3] and logistics problems associated with Del Rey's Live Out Monterrey performance.[4]
Specifics and visuals[]
The Festival Tour stage featured a large signature light up "del Rey" sign above the stage as well as cinematic style green curtains framing the screen that displayed visuals behind Del Rey. The tour was the first of Del Rey's tours that featured choreographed dances and backup dancers. The two dancers, Alexandria Kaye and Ashley Rodriguez, danced and sang beside Del Rey during many songs in the set. The Festival Tour was also the first tour by Lana Del Rey where she played guitar onstage for selected songs.
