"Dreamgirl" is an unreleased song by Lana Del Rey. It was recorded in 2011. The song was produced by Ryland Canniff, who reportedly also produced "Fake Diamond".[S 1] The full song leaked on June 3, 2019.

Background[]

The song was recorded over an instrumental named "Destiny" that was chosen from six that were offered to Del Rey and remained unused.[citation needed] The lyrics were written quickly merely as a joke, as expressed by herself during a vocal outtake of the song where she says, "Whatever - this song is a joke anyways." The instrumental would go on to be reused in the song "Beautifully Bad" by Idle Warship.

The full session of 67 stems, including the instrumental and various vocal outtakes, leaked in .wav format on May 8, 2020.

Lyrics[]

I can be your dreamgirl
I can be your dreamgirl

When you wake up to the day
And see the city dark and gray
You can already see the curtain coming down
Sit and open up your files
Right-click just to see her smile
Transfer to your heart and let the world go 'round

(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
When it all gets too much
Darling, I'm soft to the touch
Hush, hush and stop your rushing
I can be your dreamgirl, baby

iPhone ringing, boss is screaming
On the TV, news is streaming
It means nothing you to you though, you tune it out
Close your eyes and change the station
Switch the pictures on your wavelength
Put me on your playlist, I’m your favorite song

(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
When it all gets too much
Darling, I'm soft to the touch
Hush, hush and stop your rushing
I can be your dreamgirl, baby

Candlelight burns twice as bright, baby burns half as long
So keep your fire burning so you always love me strong
Shoo-wop, shoo-wop
Woah-woah
Shoo-wop, shoo-wop
Woah, baby
Shoo-wop, shoo-wop
Woah-woah
Shoo-wop, shoo-wop
Woah, baby

Now it’s nighttime, driving uptown
City's sparkling, but you shut down
So you signal right and turn your engine off
Cars fly by you, stars beside you
Turn that radio inside you
To the station that’s playing the one you love

(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
(Shoo-wop shoo, baby)
I can be your dreamgirl
I can be your dreamgirl
When it all gets too much
Darling, I'm soft to the touch
Hush, hush and stop your rushing
I can be your dreamgirl, baby
I can be your dreamgirl, baby
