"Angel" is an upcoming song by Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus & Lana Del Rey featured on the soundtrack of the movie Charlie's Angels (2019). It was first teased on each artist's social media on June 26, 2019, as well as on the film's page.[1][2][3][4] The following day, the first trailer of the film was released, which included a snippet of the song.[5]

Background

Rumors about the song began to spread around June 2019 after Cyrus reportedly liked an Instagram post about a collaboration with Grande and Del Rey.[6] On June 22, the official GIPHY account for the upcoming Charlie's Angels film tagged the three singers in a now-deleted post, fueling those rumours.[7]

The song was announced on June 26, 2019 and a snippet was included in the film's trailer, released the following day.[8][9]

On June 28, 2019 Cyrus posted the film's trailer on Instagram and added "#Angel" to the caption which lead fans to believe that the song would be titled "Angel".[10] The song's title was confirmed by Grande on July 23, 2019.[11]

In an interview with 1043MYfm on August 28, 2019 Del Rey talked about how the collaboration came to be: "The song's really cute. It's really cool. When I first heard it obviously I wasn't on it. It was just Ariana's parts. And they wanted me to write something so I [...] kinda cut her [Grande's] verse into a halftime bridge and just sang some stuff over her [Grande's] choruses as well and then Miley jumped on. So it's just really very spicy. A spicy little track." Del Rey also confirmed that the three shot a music video for the song and that the song would be coming out in "two weeks".[12]
