"Dealer" is a song by Lana Del Rey from her eighth studio album and seventh major-label studio album Blue Banisters. It was originally intended to be featured on the scrapped collaborative album between Del Rey and The Last Shadow Puppets, as well as her seventh studio album and sixth major-label studio album, Chemtrails Over the Country Club. It features uncredited vocals from Miles Kane, as well as writing credits from Kane, Loren Humphrey, Tyler Parkford and Zach Dawes.

Background

The title was revealed in Interview magazine. About the track, Del Rey commented:

"I think I need to add that song "Dealer", where I'm just screaming my head off. People don't know what it sounds like when I yell, and I do yell."[1]

On October 2, 2020, during a book signing event for the poetry book Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, Del Rey revealed that the track is the most different song on the album, tentatively being track 8. She also confirmed that the song was done with Zach Dawes.[2]

The song's fate was unknown after it was not found on Shazam alongside the rest of the Chemtrails Over the Country Club tracklist on December 18, 2020. On January 10, 2021, Del Rey uploaded the tracklist for the album, of which "Dealer" was not included. It was later confirmed to appear on Blue Banisters.

The song features vocals from Miles Kane, frontman of The Last Shadow Puppets. The song was originally meant for their scrapped collaborative album, alongside fellow Blue Banisters song "Thunder" and Norman Fucking Rockwell!'s "California".

Lyrics

[Miles Kane]:
Please don't try to find me through my dealer
He won't pick up his phone
Please don't try my father, either
He ain't been home for years
I know I'm no spirit-seeker
I can't sleep through the tears
I get lost in the ether

[Lana Del Rey]:
I check it, I wreck it, I turn it around

[Lana Del Rey & Miles Kane]:
I gave you all my money, gave you all my money
Gave you all my money, gave you all my money

[Lana Del Rey]:
I don't wanna live
I don't wanna give you nothing
'Cause you never give me nothing back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back

[Miles Kane]:
Please don't try to find me through my dealer
He won't pick up his phone
Please don't try my doctor, either
He won't take any calls
He's no fucking spirit's healer
He just comes down to talk
But he's gone now for the weekend

[Lana Del Rey]:
I check it, I wreck it, and I'll explain

[Lana Del Rey & Miles Kane]:
I gave you all my money, gave you all my money
Gave you all my money, gave you all my money

[Lana Del Rey]:
I don't wanna live
I don't wanna give you nothing
'Cause you never give me nothing back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back
Why can't you be good for something?
Not one shirt off your back

[Miles Kane & Lana Del Rey]:
Please don't try to find me through my dealer
He won't pick up his phone
All circuits are busy, goodbye
All circuits are busy, you're high
All circuits are busy, goodbye
Please don't try my father, either
All circuits are busy, you're high
