"Cry Me a River" is a popular torch song written by Arthur Hamilton for Ella Fitzgerald in 1953 made famous by Julie London's rendition in 1955. Despite the song's intentions to be sang by Fitzgerald, it wasn't until 1961 that she recorded it. Cover version

An unreleased cover of the song by Lana Del Rey leaked on August 6, 2015. ID3 tags in the original leaked file suggest it was recorded in 2011. Del Rey's version of the song uses the same instrumental from Michael Bublé's rendition.

Lyrics

Now, you say you're lonely,
You cried the long night through.
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river,
Honey, I cried a river over you.

Now, you say you're sorry,
For being so untrue.
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river,
Baby, 'cause I cried a river over you.

You drove me, nearly drove me,
Right out of my head,
While you never shed a tear.
Remember, I remember, all that you said,
You told me you were too plebeian,
Told me you were through with me and

Now, you say, you say you love me,
Well, just to prove that you do,
Come on, boy, cry me a river, cry me a river,
I cried a river over you.

Now, you say you're lonely,
You cried the long night through.
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river,
Mm, baby, I cried a river over you.

Now, you say you're sorry,
For being so untrue.
Well, you can cry me a river, cry me a river,
I cried a river over you,
I cried a river over you.
