Chemtrails Over The Country Club is the upcoming seventh studio album and sixth major-label studio album by Lana Del Rey. The album is set to be released on September 5, 2020.

Background

Del Rey first revealed that she had been working on a new record on August 30, 2019, the release date of Norman Fucking Rockwell!, in an interview with Al Horner for The Times. In the interview, she announced the title of the project and explained that parts of the album had already been written. Del Rey estimated that the record would most likely be released within 12 to 13 months of the interview, in 2020, as a surprise release.[1] Del Rey also revealed that the record will sound similar to her previous album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!.

On November 6, 2019, a fan on Reddit said Del Rey told her that White Hot Forever might not be the album name. Their claims have yet to be verified, seeing as they only took a picture with Del Rey and video evidence of this does not exist.

Through her Instagram, Del Rey reveals that her new album should be called "Chemtrails Over The Country Club".

Inspiration

In an interview for Q Magazine during October 2019, Del Rey hinted at the theme of the album saying, “I only think of star signs for the next thing I’m doing.”

Release

Del Rey took to Instagram on May 21, 2020 to announce the release date of the album.[2] Slated for a September 5th date, she stated: “I’m sure there will be tinges of what I’ve been pondering in my new album”. The announcement came at the end of an Instagram post, in which Del Rey slammed double standards for women in the music industry.
