New York City, New York

Bob Leone is a renowned music manager and talent scout from New York City, New York. He is credited for discovering Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey in 2006.

Discovery

On January 31, 2006, Lana (then performing as May Jailer) was attending a performance at The Bitter End when she noticed many singers & songwriters talking to Leone. She approached him, unaware of who he was, and the two became quickly acquainted. Two weeks later, the two met and she performed for him. He was impressed with bother her voice and her songwriting.

SHOF/Performances

After hearing her perform, he invited her to a 10-week writing camp sponsored by the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame (SHOF) from April to June, 2006. She could not afford the $250 fee, so he covered her. At the end of the camp, she was chosen by Leone to be one of eight songwriters featured at the SHOF New Artists Showcase on June 22, 2006. He encouraged her to begin performing in small clubs, and soon she was performing at various New York venues. He also invited her to perform at a songwriter's organization gathering on April 6, 2007.

Post-fame

The two have kept in contact since Lana has gained success. The two regularly have dinner and discuss where she is headed.
