"Big Spender" (or "Spender") is a song by British rapper Smiler featuring uncredited vocals from Lana Del Rey. The song was first shared online on April 6, 2011, as "Spender - Blinkie Remix". This version would appear on Smiler's free 2012 mixtape, All I Know. This mixtape would eventually be reworked and released to streaming services on November 21, 2016. The original, uncensored version of the song - "Big Spender" - is included on this release.
Background[]
Del Rey's portion of the song samples "Big Spender", a song written for the 1966 musical Sweet Charity. Peggy Lee was the first to record the song, but Shirley Bassey's 1967 recording peaked at 21 on her native UK Billboard charts.
On August 13, 2010, Del Rey tweeted "In studio w @smilermusic" on her old Twitter account, @MissDaytona.[1]
