Behind the Iron Gates - Insights from an Institution is the title of Lana Del Rey's second book of poetry. It will be published by Simon & Schuster and does not have a confirmed release date.

Background[]

Del Rey's first poetry book, Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass, was released digitally on July 28, 2020. She announced the title of her second poetry book via an Instagram post where she elaborated further on an earlier statement about feminism in the music industry.[1]

On May 23, 2020, Del Rey shared a poem from the book titled "Patent Leather Do-Over" on her Instagram account.[2] She also shared a visual while the audio from this poem played in the background.[3]

This book will also have a spoken word audiobook counterpart, much in the vein of her first outing of poetry. Lana confirmed she's working on that, along with other projects that are keeping her busy on September 11, 2021. Still, the release date is unconfirmed, but speculated to be out by Spring 2022.

On October 22, 2021, via Instagram Live, Del Rey confirmed the book was still coming and described it as 'complicated' and 'unflattering', stating that it could be consolidated into 36 pages due to the density of each poem. [4]
